Polygiene Test Team Italy2016: Photography and field testing in La Spezia, Italy
Polygiene gathered six athletes for a two-day photo shoot in the Apennine Mountains close to La Spezia to put garments and gear from Polygiene partners to the no-stink test.
Photographer David Umberto Zappa greeted our group with the words, “Welcome to the rainiest place in Italy.” His task: to document the test as the athletes pushed one another to perform their best during an intensive two days of varying weather conditions and demanding sports activities.
Squeezed between the Ligurian Sea and the Apuan Alps, La Spezia is a small naval city on the Tuscan coast not far from the picturesque villages of Cinque Terre. Notorious for its rapidly changing weather, the area has the highest annual rainfall in Italy. Less well known than the Alps and the mountains of Abruzzo, the Apuan Alps are part of the Apennine Mountains, which rise 2,000 meters above sea level.
Stay tuned for full disclosure of this adventure and tips on gear and activities in the area! Find out whether triathletes Fransesca Ferlazzo, Enrico Ferlazzo, Fransesco Tongiani and Ella Mozzachiodi, climbers Selene Riga and Andrea Musetti, and cyclist Fransesca Stefani think that the garments and gear they’re wearing pass the Polygiene sniff test.
