Biomaster at medical packaging seminar

Addmaster’s Managing Director Paul Morris is to give a presentation on how Biomaster antimicrobial additives can bring added value for healthcare by improving patient safety, at the forthcoming Medical Packaging Seminar.

The event, hosted by Wipak, takes place on 21st – 22nd October 2014 at Williams Martini Conference Centre, Oxfordshire, Wantage. The seminar will feature the topic “Practical applications of ISO 11607 – Packaging for terminally sterilized medical devices”.

The programme is intended for professionals responsible for medical device packaging, product development, marketing, procurement, operations management and quality. The seminar will give an insight into medical packaging standards, with the focus on practice, important aspects of medical grade films and medical papers, procedures for process qualification of packaging machine and testing for final medical device packages etc.

The conference will also allow workshop discussion around topics like the antimicrobial applications in healthcare. Antimicrobial dressings and catheters are widely used to assist with management of infections. Antimicrobial furniture like reception desk, arm rests of the chairs in the waiting area, laboratory desks, sinks, toilet arm rests, toilet tables and cupboard and drawer handles are already in use in some healthcare centres. Biomaster antimicrobial protection can also be introduced to inhibit bacteria growth on the surface of medical device packaging.

A combination of individual microbial solutions can produce one comprehensive environment that gives additional protection for better fighting against hospital infections.
