Safesip is an exciting new innovation in the disability, health care, travel and childcare markets, designed by entrepreneurial mother Melissa Edmunds Safesip is a unique drinks cover that fits almost any glass, cup or that stops spills and protects drinks.
Melissa came up with the idea after her young son knocked over a drink in restaurant (something all parents have had to experience!) and then her father was taken ill and hospitalised and needed assistance with drinking.Melissa realised that Safesip would stop drinks from spilling and that it made life much easier for those that struggled to sit up to drink or for those with disabilities that need an extra level of assistance when drinking.
From these observations the Safesip was born! Melissa comments “This has been a long journey from initial idea to the final product being launched and I would like to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. I am so excited that Safesip is now available and will help with everything from those annoying little spills to enabling those with disabilities to drink with dignity”.
Safesip is manufactured from a stretchy food grade silicone for easy fitting on most drinking glasses, cups and cans and is re-usable. It comes in a range of colours and is now also available with Biomaster Protection; a silver based additive added into the silicone during manufacture that stops the growth of bacteria.
Silver, a natural antimicrobial, has been used for centuries to prevent the growth of bacteria and Biomaster is proud to be associated with such an innovative idea as Safesip. Paul Morris, Managing Director of Addmaster (UK) Ltd, the team behind Biomaster Protection says“By adding Biomaster into this unique product it provides another value added feature to the Safesip performance. The benefits of including Biomaster will be particularly useful when Safesip is used in hospitals, care homes and for those with limited mobility.”
Safesip is ideal for children to help them stop spilling drinks and is also great for hospital use. It allows people with limited movement to drink with dignity and may also lead to them being able to drink unassisted. Safesip is really easy to use, once on the drinking cup simply insert a straw and you are ready to drink.
This simple yet amazing innovation from Melissa has received a number of awards most of which not surprisingly are for innovation, more recently winner of Coolest New Product at the Mobility Roadshow 2012.
