They may seem like an innocent, harmless household item, but little is known about the germs that are hiding in an ordinary hairbrush. Research has shown that one hair follicle alone can harbour over 50,000 germs and is a haven for dirt, dust and bacteria.
With this in mind, celebrity hairdresser Richard Ward created a new hairbrush with specially developed antimicrobial additives embedded in the plastic. Tangle Angel, a professional detangling brush launched last year, uses Biomaster antimicrobial technology to make it far more hygienic and safer to use than any other hairbrush on the market.
Biomaster antimicrobial technology, a range of unique formulations blended specifically for each end application to provide maximum performance and durability, has been proven to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria including MRSA, E.coli and salmonella by more than 99.99%.
The active ingredient in Biomaster is silver, a natural antimicrobial that has been used for centuries to prevent the growth of bacteria. Added during manufacture, Biomaster becomes an integral part so it can’t leak out or wash off providing antimicrobial protection for the intended lifetime of the Tangle Angel.
Tangle Angel, which also has heat resistant and anti-static properties built in to keep hair clean, smooth, silky and tangle-free, has been a huge success in its first year, with a massive growth in sales through hair salons and directly through Richard’s website.
Richard Ward, celebrity stylist and the man behind Tangle Angel said, “Brushes can collect hair, dead skin and residues of hair products which can become sticky and attract dirt. I wanted to create a brush that not only detangles and looks beautiful, but has an added benefit through the added antibacterial agent, which acts as a great defence. We so pleased with how customers have responded to the brush and am looking to develop further products with Biomaster.”
Paul Morris, managing director at Biomaster said, “It’s been said that the average hairbrush holds more bacteria than a sink plughole or dog bowl. We’re pleased to be partnering with Richard Ward on a product that can make a difference to people’s everyday lives.”
Tangle Angel is available in Pearl White, Glamorous Pink and Metallic Black and has a RRP of £14.99.
