Polygiene Technology Hits The Ice With CCM Hockey

As a parent of a sports-obsessed child, you know how quickly laundry can pile up. Between practice, gym class and gameday, there seems to be a never-ending pile of jerseys, equipment and clothing to clean. And does it ever need a good wash. Because traditional sports equipment can really stink. There’s no avoiding those nasty odors. Unless your kids are rocking CCM Hockey gear, of course.

CCM x Polygiene – skating side-by-side

CCM is one of the most respected names in hockey and boasts more than a century of sporting heritage. From the first Tackaberry boot with CCM Prolite blade to the company’s extensive range of modern skates, sticks and protective gear, CCM has always strived for excellence, providing enhanced performance with every fresh innovation.

It is one of the main reasons we are so pleased to announce that CCM’s most recent innovation involves integrating Polygiene technology into many of its products. For the FW 2024 season, CCM is incorporating Polygiene OdorCrunch™ and Polygiene StayFresh™ technologies into its hockey skates. It will also introduce our Freshness technologies into CCM body armor and underlayers. And, for the first time, Polygiene solutions will feature in both Youth and Adult collections.

While Polygiene StayFresh has been used in CCM Hockey gloves for several seasons, this expanded use of Polygiene technology marks the next step in a promising partnership.

Improved hygiene and anti-odor protection

Both Polygiene StayFresh and Polygiene OdorCrunch tackle odors head-on, helping keep clothing, gear and equipment smell-free and fresher for longer. This enables you to wash hockey gear less frequently, saving you money, resources and, most importantly, time. When we conducted a Life Cycle Assessment on a Polygiene-treated T-shirt, we found skipping every other wash saved 51 kWh, 3,800 liters of water, and four days of the wearer’s (or washer’s) time each year.

While Polygiene StayFresh is based on silver chloride technology and Polygiene OdorCrunch uses natural silica particles to destroy bad smells, both help keep treated gear odor-free. The former fights odor-causing bacteria, preventing them from multiplying. Combined with regular cleaning routines, it ensures equipment remains hygienic and fresh-smelling. The latter captures the molecules responsible for bad odors, breaks down their protective shell, and renders them inactive.

Pick up your Polygiene-treated CCM Hockey gear

Its odor-fighting capabilities ensure Polygiene technology is a perfect match for the CCM Hockey kit and equipment. It means no one has to put up with smelly gear and eases the burden on parents and busy hockey players who struggle to keep up with the sheer amount of washing produced.

CCM has built its reputation and made its way to the pinnacle of the sport because it is committed to developing high-performance equipment beloved by grassroots players, budding stars, and the sport’s biggest names like USA National Team player Taylor Heisse and Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews. Polygiene technology is enabling CCM to, once again, improve its product offering and deliver outstanding value to its customers.

We love that Polygiene technology is in action every time a CCM-equipped player steps on the ice. And we are proud our solutions can help dedicated parents spend less time on laundry and not be afraid of the stench when picking up their kids from training. We look forward to continuing to work with CCM in the future and can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on some Polygiene-treated CCM gear.
