Smart living – smart savings
Just as we prioritize separating our trash and bringing a reusable bag to the grocery store, making these water-saving practices part of your daily routine can go a long way to minimizing water and energy loss.
1. Spot clean clothes when possible and launder only when necessary.
2. When you wash, be sure to run a full wash load.
3. Avoid dry-cleaning (you can do that thanks to Polygiene!)
4. Avoid tumble drying, air dry instead.
5. Hang garment to air instead of washing them after every use.
6. Repair garments, shoes and gear instead of buying new ones.
7. Tired of your garments? – Resell, replace, give to charity.
8. When clothes are worn out, be sure to recycle them via a textile recycling program.
9. Try to buy garments made of recycled material. Shop for garments that are recyclable
10. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth or soap your hands.
11. Take a shorter shower (and don’t take a bath).
12. Avoid buying water in single-use plastic bottles; keep a bottle of water in the refrigerator so you don’t waste water waiting for it to turn cold.
13. Harvest rainwater to water the lawn.
14. Wash your car at the car wash where water is collected and reused.
15. Repair any leaks and/or taps that drip.
16. Install water-efficient faucets, showerheads, toilets and appliances.
17. Rinse vegetables and fruits in a stopped sink, not under running water.
18. Run your dishwasher at full load.
