Home → Blog → Resources → Berlin, breakthroughs, and big plans: A busy month at Polygiene
May was an exciting month for Polygiene as many of the team headed to Berlin for our annual all-company meeting. This month’s blog features a round-up of events in the German capital, as well as an interview with Polygiene CEO, Dr. Sandrine Garnier. We’ll have news of our upcoming attendance at Functional Fabric Fair New York, as well as our brand-new Polygiene Picks feature. Enjoy!
As a global organization, Polygiene has offices across Europe, the US, and Asia. It enables us to serve partners and customers around the world, but it also means we are spread far and wide. So, once a year, the Polygiene team gathers for an in-person company meeting to present our regional work, discuss product development and brand strategy, and collaborate in person. This year, our German office hosted the team in the country’s fabulous capital, Berlin.
We spent the week combining Polygiene meetings and workshops with a range of activities that introduced us to the history and culture of one of Europe’s most iconic cities. From a fantastically productive workshop with Territory’s Till Heckel to an on-water sightseeing tour aboard a Hauptstadtfloß boat, there were plenty of opportunities to learn, develop, and enjoy Berlin. With a private tour of the Reichstag building, a team art session at the Berlinpilots graffiti workshop, and an evening celebrating Polygiene’s 20th birthday in the heart of Kreuzberg, we all came away feeling energised and deeply appreciative of the chance to get to know Berlin a little better.
One of the biggest takeaways from our time in Berlin was the value of face-to-face time when creating a shared culture, vision, and understanding of how the company is moving forward. Working together to align on these elements enables us to continue building a brand that is always at the forefront of textile technology innovation, and that the world’s leading sport, workwear, and lifestyle brands are excited to work with.
So we would like to say a big thank you to two of Polygiene’s finest, Haymo Strubel and Émilie Loffroy Caicedo, for organising such a brilliant annual meeting. The time spent together has ensured we are more than ready to make 2026 – Polygiene’s 20th year – an unqualified success.
Having rejoined Polygiene Group as CEO six months ago, Dr. Sandrine Garnier has had a little time to settle in and reacquaint herself with the company. So we thought it was a good time to sit down with Sandrine to talk about how these first months have gone and what the future holds for Polygiene. We also wanted to find out a little more about Sandrine’s story and what she hopes to bring to the role.
In our introductory interview, we discussed her educational background in science and professional experience in the specialty chemicals and advanced materials sectors. We also touched on the launch of Polygiene® OdorCrunch2.0 and the success of the recent company meeting in Berlin. It’s a great way to get to know the new head of Polygiene Group, and offers a fascinating insight into Polygiene’s current position and path forward.

Straight off the back of the success of Functional Fabric Fair (FFF) Portland, the Polygiene Team is preparing to head east to attend FFF New York. Running from July 7-9 at the Javits Center, the show is an opportunity to explore the latest textile technologies. Last year, the event attracted more than 150 exhibitors and 2,100 industry executives, designers, and sourcing professionals. So we’re hoping for an equally impressive turnout this year.
With Polygiene OdorCrunch2.0’s recent success at Performance Days Munich and Functional Fabric Fair Portland, we’re looking forward to introducing the solution to the New York crowd. As part of the event, the Polygiene Team will be distributing free Polygiene® OdorCrunch2.0 T-shirts and showcasing our industry-leading textile additives.

Every month, a member of the Polygiene team picks a Polygiene-treated product they couldn’t do without. From favourite T-shirts to odor-resistant camping gear, these essential items are all the better for smelling fresher. First up is Polygiene CEO, Dr. Sandrine Garnier.
My essential Polygiene Pick is definitely a running top from Maloja. I love starting the day with a run. Since joining Polygiene I have covered quite a few kilometres around Malmö, along the waterfront, through the parks, and exploring the city streets.
The best part? Thanks to Polygiene Freshness, I can pack one running top for an entire week of travel. As someone who spends a lot of time on the move, the ability to travel a little lighter is something I appreciate on every single trip.
