Running from the 21st-24th January 2025, the SHOT Show is expected to attract upwards of 50,000 attendees to Las Vegas. It remains one of the largest and most influential trade shows for the shooting, hunting, law enforcement and outdoor sectors in the USA. For the first time, Polygiene will be setting up shop at the event to catch up with existing partners, connect with new customers and showcase the power of Polygiene Freshness solutions.
This year is particularly exciting, as we’ll present with General Tactic, a long-standing Polygiene partner, to showcase their innovative new police uniforms. To introduce the product and tell us a little more about it and the General Tactic brand, we spoke with Carlos Godoy Castellote, the company’s CEO. Hi Carlos! Before we discuss the new uniform, can you give us a bit of background on General Tactic and the brand’s partnership with Polygiene?
General Tactic was founded in 2014 as a technical fabrics manufacturer specializing in law enforcement and military uniforms. Since the very earliest days, we’ve always prioritized craftsmanship, attention to detail and, most importantly, innovation. There’s a big focus on research and development. It enables us to deliver cutting-edge fabrics for a variety of situations and evolve our products to meet the needs of law enforcement professionals the world over.
General Tactic has been a Polygiene partner for around 11 years now, incorporating its odor control technologies into a whole range of uniforms. But my history with Polygiene goes back a little further. I became aware of its textile technologies in 1997. At the time, I was selling fabrics, and the mill I worked for integrated Polygiene solutions into its products. I was fascinated by the technology from the first moment.
So can you tell us about the new police uniform SHOT Show attendees will be able to see at the Polygiene booth?
We honestly believe it’s a game-changer for police uniforms. Traditional law enforcement uniforms in the USA are made with polyester blends. They may look good but they don’t perform well and usually emphasize aesthetics over functionality. Those polyester blends also tend to really start to smell after a long shift, too.
The new General Tactic uniform features a blend of nylon, cotton and spandex, ensuring users enjoy the best of both worlds. It’s got that traditional sense of style but incorporates a functional fabric that is lighter, stretchier, more breathable and soft but still durable. It is home washable, doesn’t need ironing and the color doesn’t fade over time. Of course, it also features Polygiene StayFresh™ technology, so it doesn’t smell, remains fresh between washes and lasts longer. Do you get feedback on your uniforms from law enforcement professionals?
Yes, we do. And that positive feedback from frontline officers is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. Officers usually love our uniforms’ breathability, all-day comfort and odor control qualities, so Polygiene always gets a mention and is a big benefit for users. Actually, when I talk to prospective customers about the uniform’s Polygiene odor-control properties, I might go into a bit too much detail. I always tell them about how I performed a personal wear test when we first started working with Polygiene and wore the same shirt for two weeks straight in the height of Spanish summer. I get some weird looks, but it’s a good example of just how well the technology works!
We want to say a big thank you to Carlos for taking the time to speak to us and we look forward to showcasing the new General Tactic police uniform at the SHOT Show.
