7mesh x Polygiene

One of the most exciting and innovative outdoor apparel brands in the industry, 7mesh does things differently. Based in the mountain biking mecca that is Squamish, British Columbia, it is a company that lives, breathes and dreams the mountains. Its employees hit the roads, trails and peaks around them at any opportunity, and the brand’s products are put through their paces in the same challenging environment.

While originally specialising in cycling-specific clothing, 7mesh has branched out and broadened its horizons. It now creates apparel for hiking, trail running, and general outdoor activity and appreciation. It has also integrated Polygiene StayFresh technology into several items, most notably the excellent Roam Collection – a series of long-, short- and three-quarter-sleeve technical trail shirts that are ideal for all-day trail riding and hiking.

There isn’t a 7mesh without Squamish

7mesh is connected to the local area in a way many brands aren’t. The name – 7mesh – comes from the writing system used to represent the languages spoken by the indigenous people of the Squamish Nation, in which Squamish is written Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh. It’s a recognition that the company and its employees live, work, and play on the unceded territories of the Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Úxwumixw and Lil̓wat7úl. And it’s a gesture of gratitude for the beauty of that landscape, too.

Squamish also plays a key role in the design process, providing a challenging testing ground for 7mesh products and ensuring they can perform in the toughest conditions. Fortunately, the team brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the table. The company was born when its founders left Arc’Teryx, seeking to do things differently. Just over ten years later, they have built a passionate and talented team around them that is more than delivering on that early promise.

Polygiene X 7mesh

The 7mesh team isn’t interested in designing apparel for crowded product categories, where users’ needs are already being met. It is interested in solving real-life problems and delivering performance where other products don’t. That’s really evident in the Roam Collection, where the brand has introduced Polygiene technology to solve a challenge that had puzzled designers – how to create a polyester tech tee that wicks sweat but stays fresh.

Polygiene and 7mesh also share many values, and a commitment to more Mindful Living is a common thread connecting the two. For cyclists, runners and hikers, shrinking our footprint by transitioning from short-life consumables to long-life durables is one way of achieving this. By integrating Polygiene tech into its apparel, 7mesh ensures items need to be washed less frequently, reducing premature wear and tear associated with machine washing, so products may last longer.

The benefits of Polygiene technology

7mesh products are designed for the demanding Squamish environment and weather. Hot summers and cold, wet winters mean clothing needs to perform in all conditions. In an area where you can wake up at sea level, be 2,000 metres up a mountain by lunch, and be back home for dinner, apparel needs to be optimized for high-output exercise, too. Typically, this means ensuring designs benefit from effective moisture-wicking capabilities and boast long-lasting odor control for comfort.

Polygiene® StayFresh inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria, so 7mesh textiles stay fresher for longer and need less frequent washing. In doing so, our solutions enable outdoor enthusiasts to wear 7mesh designs day-in, day-out, from the bottom of the mountain to the top, without worrying about unpleasant smells or feeling uncomfortable or self-conscious. It is the ideal textile technology for anyone who wants to hit the trails in the morning, roll back into town for a refreshing beverage with friends late in the afternoon, and do it all over again the next day.
