The technology
To reduce the spread of bacteria, surfaces need to be easy to clean and hygienic to minimize the risk of cross-contamination. If you can build in effective antimicrobial protection at the manufacturing point, this can be even easier and faster to integrate into a wide range of industries including healthcare, food and catering, public transport, packaging and more.
Polygiene BioMaster™ does exactly this. By being added to any plastic, textile, paper, paint, or coatings at the point of manufacture, it provides durable product protection from bacterial growth.

Benefits of BioMASTER
Polygiene BioMaster proactively inhibits and disrupts the growth of bacteria and microbes on treated surfaces at the molecular level and has three modes of action. Because it’s integrated into materials and surfaces at the point of production, it stays active for the life of the product, so it provides 24/7 protection and results in less need for frequent replacement.
The silver ion technology in Polygiene BioMaster binds with the cell wall to disrupt the growth of bacteria that lands on a treated surface. The ions also interfere with enzyme production within the bacteria, stopping each cell from producing energy. Finally, it interrupts the cell’s DNA, preventing replication. The bacteria cannot reproduce or grow, reducing the microbial load on treated surfaces.
Inhibits the growth of microbes and bacteria on treated surfaces.
Once it’s integrated it carries on working for the life of the product.
Polygiene BioMaster is non-leaching and contains no nanotechnology and is safe to use.
Used in a wide range of industries and solutions, it’s ideal for any hygiene-critical location or high-traffic touch points.

The science
Because it lasts for the life of the product with no need for reapplication, that means there’s less need to replace frequently. Even items that are notorious as single use like paper and packaging can attain a longer working life because, in conjunction with suitable cleaning, they remain hygienic for their lifespan. By integrating BioMaster, many leading brands have already made a choice to move from fast consumables to durables.
When it’s added to a product it is dispersed throughout the whole item, becoming an integral part of its structure. The use of silver ions means that BioMaster doesn’t leach and remains bonded to the item for the lifetime of the product, providing continuous antibacterial protection.
Polygiene BioMaster can be added at any stage during manufacture. As it is available in masterbatch, liquid and powder, there is a BioMaster solution to work with almost any material, including most plastics and polymers, paper and board, paints and coatings, surfaces, textiles, and flexible films.
“By partnering with BioMaster, we are reinforcing our commitment to manufacture the most hygienic toilet brush on the market today.” Neil McAllan Managing Director, Dip-San®
“Biomaster has been a critical factor in Medi-Shower’s success within the Healthcare sector, but it is interesting to note that as new markets have opened for us outside Healthcare our customers demand for this high level of protection remains just as strong.” Christie Allen Managing Director

BioMaster has undergone rigorous testing around the world and has been shown to stop common microbes in their tracks. BioMaster is NOT an anti-viral, although it has undergone testing for both Covid-19 and Norovirus and has shown in some tests to be effective at stopping the growth of both. It’s highly effective at stopping bacterial growth but it’s not a replacement for regular, effective cleaning – it is most effective when used in conjunction with other hygiene routines. BioMaster is registered with BPR in the UK and Europe and the EPA in the US.
See our note on testing below.
The primary constituent of Polygiene BioMaster is a specially formulated silver additive. Silver has been proven to be an effective antibacterial, even playing the role of an effective antibiotic up until the discovery of penicillin. In more modern times, silver has been used by NASA to purify water on board the space shuttle. It’s also used as a treatment in topical gels to treat burns and in wound dressings.
Because Polygiene BioMaster works at a molecular level, very low concentrations of non-organic silver ions are required to deliver an effective anti-microbial barrier on surfaces and other materials.

Note that regulations in the USA are different to those in the EU and elsewhere. To ensure your product meets all current requirements, we will help and advise on compliance, depending on where you are selling your product.
Note also that every product must be tested individually to comply with ISO standards for antimicrobial and anti-bacterial products. All tests must be conducted through an independent laboratory. End-users must ensure that they carry out independent testing to ISO standards before making any claims about their product’s effectiveness against bacteria.
